Boracay2016: 24 hours in Boracay
2:07 AM
I first went to Boracay last October 2015 for boyfie and I's 5th anniversary celebration. (see story here and here) We only stayed for a night which we all know is never enough, which means...reasons to go back.
This post means... yes, I was able to go back but only for a night. Again!! Still lucky though since we're having a hard time requesting leave/ change off from the bosses. Boracay for the second time and for a night, again! Why is my life like this?? *kidding
So after our graveyard shift, off we flew to Boracay via Caticlan which is the nearest airport. The last time, I flew to Kalibo and traveled for about 2 hours to Caticlan which I don't wanna do again after taking the Caticlan flight.
From Caticlan Airport, its just around 5-10 minutes tricycle ride to the jetty port. We paid the usual fees, environmental fee, terminal fee and the boat all for PHP200.00 each.
Then we took a tricycle going to our hotel to immediately check in since we're all dead tired from our shift and flight. My colleague booked a night at Boracay Ecovillage where she and her family previously stayed. Fare cost PHP 40.00 each (we're a group of 5).
The receptionist told us that the hotel offers a free trip to the nearby Puka Beach. Right after we freshen up, we took a trip to the beach and it still amazes me like the first time. The uncrowded beach, white sand, the clear blue water 😍 We stayed here for just a few hours since its getting dark already.
After Puka Beach, we went back to the hotel to change for dinner. My colleague reccommended Boracay Toilet. I've been seeing Boracay Toilet photos and I'm never attracted to try this place. I'm thinking I might loose my appetite because I might think of something else (you know what I mean, right?)
But I was wrong. The whole place is really clean and doesn't smell like you're inside the restroom. (Wtf am I thinking!!) They also put a twist on the name of each dish on their menu.
I forgot the names of the food we ordered but I like their Bagoong Rice, the iced tea is like the normal powdered juice and I didn't like the hot pot. The rice is for 3 persons as per the menu but one rice toilet is more than enough for the 5 of us though.
After dinner, we walked the long stretch of white beach and went to Jonah's milkshake. I ordered banana choco peanut which I think is what I also ordered before :)
And this ended our first day.
Our second and last day was spent at the white beach. We were able to try paddle boat for PHP300.00 for one hour. After this, my two colleagues tried the mermaid photo op for PHP1,000 each for 30 minutes. No sharing allowed though so I didn't try since its really pricey for me.
While waiting for the other two to finish mermaid-ing, me and My friend find our way to the famous Calamansi muffin which I really wanna try the first time I went here.
We check out at 12nn, no extensions as they automatically shuts down the electricity by 12. We had our lunch before going to the airport and we had it at I ❤️ Backyard BBQ. I had Baby Back Ribs (everytime there's one on the menu) and the others had fish fillet and chicken parmesan all served with their signature peanut sauce. We felt like we're tourists in our own country as most people here are Korean.
And the sad reality came. After a night, we're leaving Boracay already. We took the last flight that got delayed. The saddest part is we had to go to work already on the same night of our arrival. #RestDayinBoracay
Uugghhh! Wishing it could be longer. I have to make sure that next time its not gonna be just overnight. There's just something that Boracay has that makes us wanna come back over and over again. And I'm coming back again for sure!!
xx, Joyce
