Hongkong 2011: Shopping in Hongkong

11:32 PM

As what I have said in my previous post, we availed of the package tour, Hongkong-Macau-Shenzhen and its just on the latter part we discovered that Macau tour is on our own account and that's for 300HKD for the roundtrip ferry from HK to Macau. After the half day Hongkong City tour, some of my classmates braved going to Macau on their own and we planned of going to Mong Kok at night to do shopping. Who woudn't love shopping in Hongkong? Yipeee!

Before proceeding with Mong Kok shopping, here's what I shopped during the city tour.
75HKD per box
souvenir plate with our photo for 700HKD each
From our hotel in Tsuen Wah street, we walked to find the nearest MTR station. Here in the Philippines we have to que to buy tickets but in Hongkong, there's a touch screen machine where you will buy your own ticket.

When we reached Mong Kok, there is a lot of people but we still had the photo ops, its like Divisoria here in the Philippines and you will love every pieces you will see. I love the colorful lights and the place is clean. We had fun haggling with the sellers. My professor said that we have to haggle half of the price of the item and if they didn't agree, walk away and they will follow us and agree with the price we want. And that's what we did. Its so fuuunn!

Here's what I bought in Mongkok. If only my money will allow me, I wanna buy more items!
Bags
I find these two very unique and I don't think I can buy something like this here in the Philippines. The England flag bag's worth 100HKD and the Map bag's worth 150HKD. I made serious haggling with the backpack map bag since its very expensive at first, and when I'm about to walk away, the seller agree with it. Hahaha!
bags, boots, t-shirts, key chains and ballpens

Krizza bought boots, key chains and ballpens. Mine's the t-shirts for pasalubong for 100HKD for 6  pieces. Its cheap that way but I don't really like the cloth and the size doesn't fits me well. The width and length of the shirt is not proportion.

After a very long walk, we decided to go back to our hotel since its going late and we don't know what time the MTR will be closing.

In Shenzhen, China items are much cheaper but I already shopped all my money in Hongkong so I was able to buy only a wedge sandals for 30RMB. My remaining money is spent for the taxi fare going to Dongmen Walking Street and some crackers for pasalubong.
Looks familiar?

Have you been to Mongkok and Shenzhen? Share me your stories.

xx, Joyce
