Hongkong 2011: Hongkong Ocean Park
11:46 PM
Included in our package is the Hk Ocean Park tour. On our first day, when we arrived in Hongkong we went directly in our Hotel, just left our luggage in the lobby then went straight to Hk Ocean Park. We were so tired because of the early flight plus we were so hungry and it is so hot. So when we reached Ocean Park, I didn't feel any excitement at all, but wake up!! its my first time in Hongkong and I have to enjoy.
Ocean Park Hongkong, commonly known as Ocean Park, is a marine mammal, oceanarium, animal theme park and amusement park, situated in Wong Chuk Hang and Nam Long Shang in the southern district of Hongkong.
It is ranked the fourteenth most visited theme park in the world and in addition to being a theme park, Ocean Park is also an important marine animal conservation, research and education centre.
The park has two areas divided by large mountain, The Summit, which is the upper part and The Waterfront, the lower part. From The Waterfront, you can go to The Summit via a 1.5 km cable car and vice versa.
WARNING! Lots of photos ahead! :)
PARK ATTRACTIONS
- The Grand Aquarium which contains over 5000 fish of 400 species and 5.2 liters of water.
The Grand Aquarium is the last attraction we've visited inside the Park and were about to go back to the bus that time so we hurriedly check out the place because I can't afford to miss this chance of seeing this. And it didn't disappoint. I haven't visited the Manila Ocean Park yet but mind you this one's really awesome.
- Aqua City Lagoon, the setting for the nightly spectacular fire, pyrotechnic, water and music show "Symbio"
Krizza and I had a lot of photos in the Aqua City Lagoon. This part is just so colorful, I'm sorry if my photos doesn't give justice to the place.
- Kid's World includes Whiskers Theater where a Sea Lion Show and Whiskers and Friends Show are performed several times daily.
- Giant Panda
Have you seen a real Panda? I haven't too that's why I'm so excited to check out the Panda Village. The setting looks like they're in a forest or jungle but since they have thick fur, the area is closed and air-conditioned. Lucky Pandas :) Scroll down and take a look at the cute Pandas.

How Cuuutteee! |
We took our lunch inside, we were very hesitant to buy the 38HKD Pork Chops over Fried Rice so we took the cable to The Summit to look for a much cheaper food but we ended up finding nothing so we went back and already bought the food together with a 22HKD bottle of cola Krizza and I shared to make our meal a bit cheap, so our food costs 50HKD. Do the math and convert to PHP.
And after sharing stories with our friends, there are food chain in The Summit, there's even McDonalds. Where the hell are they located? I think were just so tired and hungry that's why we don't have enough energy to walk a bit more.
- Cable Car Ride, a 12 minutes cable car journey to the summit with breathtaking views over Deepwater Bay, Stanley Peninsula and Lamma Island.
I'm not afraid of heights but Krizza is. So while I'm so excited with the ride, she's so scared and holding my hand so tight. :)
Krizza was so scared during the whole Cable car ride so she was holding my hand so tight. |
Breathtaking view |
There are souvenir shops inside Hk Ocean Park but items are really expensive. The items are really one of a kind but since its just our first day, we don't wanna spend much because we have to budget our small amount of money for the following days.

We really enjoyed everything inside Ocean Park especially the Cable Car ride which was my first time. The views are breathtaking and very relaxing, cold breeze and fresh air makes Hongkong a really pleasant place to stay. I wanna be here with my family soonnn!
At the end of the day we watched the fireworks-fountain musical show in Aqua City Laggon located near the entrance of the Park. The show was spectacular.
After the show, our bus is waiting for us outside and so we headed back to our Hotel, Panda Hotel. We were very tired and hungry that day but everything was worth it.
Hope you enjoyed our tour in Hongkong Ocean Park.
MORE PHOTOS IN HONGKONG OCEAN PARK
I have read a few blogs about Hongkong Ocean Park and discovered that I haven't explored the whole park yet. There is a lot I haven't seen when we went there. Why?? oh why?? Its just so big and the whether is so hot. I felt so sad! but what can I do? I'm back in the Philippines. But there's always next time. Hope to be back here.
xx, Joyce
